This is a photo of the tops to a pair of M&S 70s I'm working on. Notice on the left one, there are four raised bosses on the top, the right one has only two, diagonally across the top. These are threaded. What were they for?

Also, on the sides, near the countersunk holes at the corners where the tops attached to the frame, there are raised bosses, also threaded. These are on both sides of the tops. What were these for?

I've had four of these pumps, all with the deco style tops and they all had these threaded bosses but I've never seen anything mounted to them.

Thanks.

Morgan:

Just a guess. But the top ones might have been intended for advertising/promo attachments and the side boses for pricer signage.

Later . . .

Jim, could be on the top holes but the side holes I don't know. Two on each side, with prices already on the faces??? I suppose it could have been a large sign, mounting on both holes and on both sides.

It remains a mystery! LOL

I have not seen a STATIONLIGHTER for/on a 70, but the 4 threaded bosses make me think they had one.

Lots of pumps had a pricer hanging on the side or top of pump, so that you could compare prices driving by on the street.
