I was asked by an OLDGAS member last week about this particular sign on whether it was an original or not and my advice to him was if it was from India don't buy it.. my hope is that the buyer isn't the guy I was talking too. I suspect NOT....

I can not believe people are so stupid. Think about it for a minute or just a second. Canadian Red Indian sign in INDIA ? The company that has not used that sign in let us say 60 years or so ? How in the world would it get to India? What are they thinking or is it just greed on each buyer and sellers part ?

Craig,
The only problem with your scenario is you are expecting people to use logic and common sense. Two attributes that are greatly lacking these days.

I'm not promoting ebay...just wanting to point out that I don't see it as an ebay problem at all.

The seller uses the same lingo every other seller of repops does...'old' 'vintage' etc...

He never comes out and says it is a guaranteed original item. Plus the fact he's on another continent.

The responsibility for completed sales like this one fall squarely on the buyer imo.

Yes, I agree, but am dismayed as I watch all the ebay ads with the faked and aged 12" signs.

I agree, it's more of a complete moron problem, more than an ebay problem. I mean, people are going to always have a venue to offer something for sale.

It defies logic that a person would bid on a Red Indian Sign from India....Stupid doesn't even begin to describe it.

They are already here, I bought one from our connection in Quebec ( and he is suppose to be the expert on Red Indian ),,,it was a huge controversy on OLDGAS last summer 2013, I returned it to him.. not sure what he did with it.

Guys, I'm the moron, yes me. I didn't look at where the sign was coming from and asked Wes about the sign. I contacted the seller and have shipped the sign back. He has already, prior to even receiving the sign, given me my money back, my original shipping cost and my return shipping cost. That says a lot about the guy....I think

I'm curious what exactly do you think that say's about "the guy"?.......because what I think it say's, is he's trying everything he can not to get a negative from you saying he's selling fakes.........that's my opinion.

I suspect many of the ebay buyers know the signs are fake but plan on reselling them representing them as originals.

This image from another site. It should help people from making the mistake on the fraudulent signs and does identify the differences between real and fake.
