I assumed was real...but I would remove immediately if mobil based collector could weigh in...I had similar discussion on a gulf pump plate, and that turned out to be real as well... I would never sell a repro...i'd swallow the loss if the plate is indeed a fake....anyone can help? ty!

I think Dan's post is quite helpful and seems to sums this up, unfortunately. I have only ever seen Texlite Dallas plates but will let Dan or another far more experienced Mobil collector comment.
Looking for Canadian quart cans and items. White Rose, North Star...

I'm far from a mobil expert and definitely an honest seller/collector. Well i know my mobil stuff very well. I will not own this sign as it is questionable. I do own some signs that say Texlite Inc but not in the shields. The ones i have are pipeline signs. I am on the fence if it this sign is real or not. I have seen a few of these and i have two issues. One is the grommets. All the signs that i have owned of magnolia region, which has been a lot, have had white grommet and dont fan out in the back like this one. Two when i held it in my hand it didnt feel right to me. Seen a few at the Indy Ad show. Just my opinions. Dan Matthews and I disagreed on a really rare mobiloil aero sign today, it didnt seem right to me and all he had was photos, so we all have our opinions. Best of luck Dan

hey guys.... i PMed Richard aka Pegasus and he says it looks good to him...i've asked him if i can rewrite here what he wrote to me, and I will do as such once he gives me ok.
Mcguffey, I just want to reiterate that I appreciate your opinion greatly. My main interest is to be honest, and hopefully that honesty pays itself forward. The few items I sell are usually letting things go that I no longer collect. I am mostly a globe collector, and this is the last of three signs I have left after selling the rest. (my other two I am holding onto for a long time: one is an amazing red crown sign I got from scott which was found in Ohio) ...the other is the well known red crown tin with the car and flapper girl which is in somewhat poor condition but I incorporated it into a piece of furniture I made.) I know sometimes context is lost in writing, and I wanted to make sure I wasn't rude or offensive in any way. I have great respect for this site and the wonderful people I interact with here. Healthy discourse and open debate is something that any collector should welcome.
Kind regards, Vincent
