I have a chance to purchase an American visible pump. I am not sure of the model # but I beieve it is one of the 2400 series. I think it is an eight sided one. It is in good shape from what I can tell just missing the handle. Is this pump any more desirable than say a Wayne 615, G&B 176 ect.? Just trying to determine what to give for it or if I should buy it.

Thanks,

Keith

Keith, desirability is in the eye of the beholder. I think they may be a little less common and do make great looking pumps restored...as does a Wayne 615. My rule of thumb was NEVER pass on a visible, any visible. (Unless it's at a ridiculous selling price). If the selling price is right, go for it.

I personally think that the American Visible is more desirable than a G&B 176 and Wayne 615. I just finished a G&B 176 and I still think that. The shape of the American with the 8 sides is awesome. It appears to me that an American is worth about $200-$300 more than the other two in its unrestored state. Good luck and go for it. ~Jason

I agree with the others. I never pass on a visible unless the price is too high. If you think that is more desirable in your opinion then you are the one that you have to satisfy so go for it. All visibles are nice when restored so get if you can.

Thanks, Phil
