Hello,

These have been in the family for some time and belong to my parents. We found them in an old house on our farmstead in Northern Minnesota back in the 70's.

Description:
-They are 16 inches by 16 inches.
-The Manhattan globe is almost like porcelain
-The Independent globe seems like a normal lens with metal around it

I have done a lot of searching and never found a Manhattan globe. After some research it seems like it may be from Manhattan, KS.

Does anyone have any idea what these might be worth?

Thank you!

Man I would never have thought a Tragically Hip song title would be a new member but Welcome to OG Bob! The One Piece Etched globe and the Independent look great. You can search for these globes/lenses in our picture section using Google OG search. I am sure others on the site will know about the companies these globes are associated with.

A quick Google search revealed this discussion on the two companies:

Manhattan was out of MN. The Manhattan globe is what's called a one piece etched globe. That globe is probably from the teens or early 1920's. Not sure of the current value but certainly north of $2500. Manhattan was bought by Phillips in the 30's.

The 15" metal bodied Independent globe is a bit newer being from the late 20's. Independent was also a Phillips affiliate.

Wanted: Gas pump globes:Sinclair & affiliates, IL companies. Ripple bodies. Anything Sinclair, Stoll, Pierce, 4 Bros.

Both very rare. Manhattan should bring $2500 or so. Needs paint...Independent $1000-$1250 or so. Scott B.

Thanks Gasman - The Hip are going back on tour in January if you are a fan at all.

Was not expecting numbers that high for them.
Thank you for the information.

Brent
