I HAVE QUITE A FEW OLD TEXACO SIGNS AS WE HAVE BEEN TEXACO DISTRIBUTORS SINCE 1930. THE ONE SIGN I HAVE NOT HAD MUCH INFO ON IS A TEXACO FIBERGLASS TRAPEZOID SIGN. ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL AS TO TIME FRAME THEY WERE USED.

Another oldgas member 60Wayne has or had one recently still in the frame.
It is my understanding these were placed up at stations that changed brands/branding/style until porcelain versions could be put up and I suppose they could also have been used in frames for lexan conversions as well when the lexan was broken or before the lexan interior lit versions were approved and placed.
As for timeframe used, anytime from crossover from round to trapezoid and there-after when need arose.
Generally speaking prices on these are all over the board, from around $50 for used ones(I have bought them in this range) to nearly the wholesale price of the porcelain variants without frame (when fiberglass is in frame) when minty.
These days they are a nice option for easy to hang with the look without the cost.

That is not really a trapezoid. Trapezoid is a 4-sided flat shape with straight sides that has a pair of opposite sides parallel.

Most people call it a Hexagon sign as it has 6 sides.

You're going to find all different answers to the dates used. Basically in 1968 Texaco switched over to the Hexagon logo. Just a few weeks ago I saw a 6 foot round logo circle R trademark dated 1969 produced. The Hex logo can also be found as early as 1963. When the Hex logo ended I would guess some where in the late eighties 1988 ?

I have one just like this on the original pole which came out of Abilene, Tx. They are pretty neat signs. There are no chips like with porcelain and they have the time worn appearance. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

I have the sign pictured at a yard sale at a friends place this Friday and Saturday. I don't think it will sell but you never know. More as an attention getter for the yard sale. It is on Craigslist in Lynchburg Va. http://lynchburg.craigslist.org/gms/4734897947.html {yard sale}
