I just removed the upper sheet metal from the Veeder-Root on my pump. I also slid the bottom metal piece to look inside. My god...who invented this thing, Stephen Hawking??! I love tinkering with things but this looks like it would be a nightmare if you've never touched one. I'd like to make it work again or get one that does. Who is the man to talk to about these units? Thanks for any suggestions. -Bob

Joe Yocom on this site rebuilds them. But unless yours is damaged you can get it to work more than likely. Some guys soak the entire thing in simple green. I have always blown them out, hose if necessary. Then use the penetrant of your choice. Spray, spray, spray. Keep gently trying to turn. It will loosen up.

I like to do what I call the "loose tooth" test. Put your index finger on a number wheel. See if you can rock it up and down slightly.move on to the next and repeat. Try all the wheels. Next try the gears on the axle above the wheels that rotate the next wheel. After that try the reset gears on the side. Everything should have a slight amount of wiggle. If everything does, this is usually a good indication that the computer is workable. Then spray with lots o oil.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...After staring at it and scratching my head for 45 minutes I've decided to save my nickels and dimes and send it off to Joe. I'm not scared of anything (except my wife) but this thing scares the heck out of me! It looks like something I'd start and then get confused and have to send it off anyway. I hate handing it off to Joe in a million pieces and I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate it either. Thanks again. -Bob
