So this sign popped up local to me & the guy who found it is a picker/reseller. He was asking for information on it as it was a sign covered with paint on both sides but could make out the words because of the heavy shelving.

I called him, gave him the information I knew about the Sweney company, and he was appreciative enough to allow me to purchase it from him. It also helped that I told him I would buy it without any cleaning by him (which I am glad I did, cause he was just removing the paint dry with a scraper).

I spent a good portion of the day today cleaning off the old paint and giving it those fine detailed cleanings in certain areas. The sign came out stunning, the colors are so bold and bright - I just couldn't quite believe it.

As a Sweney collector, I'm completely thrilled to add it to my collection.

...the reason I couldn't hardly believe the bright colors is because here is a side-by-side comparison to the one I already owned.

Nicely done Bryce.
Another case of good luck for an OGer!
What did you use to clean and polish it so nice? Besides elbow grease.
Hey as a Bears fan it must be a little tough with those Packers colors, eh?

thanks guys...

Fred... I used a flexible plastic scraper & 2 full cans of Easy-Off oven cleaner to remove the paint. and then barkeepers friend & elbow-grease to work the border and smaller areas that had buildup other than paint. then finished it off with some wax.

Great score on a hard to find sign Bryce!
I presume the tan background version is older. Do you have any idea when each version was used?
