old gas didn't like my ad for www.pilotdisplays.com and took away my ability to post ads. OK. Fine. Didn't realize until today that they took away my private messages as well. Private Messages too? That's pretty ***** up when all I was trying to do was post an ad for a true piece of art.

Do you guys think www.pilotdisplays.com should be allowed to post ads for their art or not??? Post replies here please

After you posted 7 bump posts to your For Sale topic within 24 hours including some insulting comments by you, we set your account on limited privileges and removed 5 posts. You were sent 4 warning messages. We expect all members to follow the For Sale Guidelines. When a problem happens repeatedly, we have to take action.

You had a great deal going with a nice item and free advertising to a wide audience. Following the rules and respecting other members was all we asked. You can still post topics and replies, but they have to be reviewed by a moderator before becoming visible to the public.

WOW the fact that you where warned 4 times and continued to not listen and then have the audacity to ask the members that collect the REAL ORIGINAL art pieces if they think you should have PRIVILEGES reinstated is just... I don't know the word to use. Imo no you lost those PRIVILEGES you EARN them back don't ask for them. In the mean time don't cry about it.

As I recall, you insulted the entire OG community by stating that no other OG member is capable of building a product comparable to yours.

Do you really think anyone is going to support you after that tirade? I think a little humility and respect would go a long way in helping to promote your products.

I was thinking the same thing. as a fabricator and past restorer of items/muscle cars along with many others on here its obvious you have no idea the talent that is on here, your mightier than thou attitude wont work here thinking your the only one that can build something. you need a attitude check.

Art? When I think of art I think of original ideas, original designs, orginal concepts. Where is the originality? It sure looks like a copy to me.

After viewing from the sidelines through this whole debacle, I will speak up and say I would suggest you work on your attitude and hopefully you can earn back your privelages.

I won't comment on your product as that's not the subject of this thread, but I believe you are addressing the wrong audience here and are most likely going to get opinions based on the dislike for reproductions on this "collectors" forum.

Should all your privileges be reinstated? No, of course not. There are simple rules that you must following in order to receive the free advertising that oldgas.com offers, and you were not able to do that.

But you knew that, or at least any intelligent person should (and I'm giving you credit for that). This thread is just another way for you to send pilotdisplays.com out to the masses, hence the "link" - TWICE.

BTW, if it were me, you would have been banned completely. And again, that's NOT based on the product you have for sale but your demeanor on this site.

Wow, 2 weeks of mo deer season and I miss all this! I need internet in the woods. Been a while since I recall this many agervated members . If I was selling a product I sure would try to humble myself a little more and follow the forum guidelines . Lots of free exposure here as Jim mentioned .

Yes Dwaine's globes are nice. Considering Dwaine does not make the globes himself and does not do much of the finished artwork. There are others out there that do it ALL. I have owned globes from all of them and his are no better. Time for a Fact and Reality Check.

You are not making any friends here. You may want to take an on line course in, "Client Development" try Dale Carnegie.

This is a great site and we count on the moderators to do there job as the RULES clearly state & apparently you didn't bother to read. If i were moderator and had given that many warning and edits for language you wouldn't be allowed on here at all. Most sites have a 3 day bump rule which is plenty as I seen your ART and don't care to see it for a few months after that. So if mad go build your own site that allows that kind of responses & attitude then you can show your work to them daily. Laroy

After reading the original post and seeing your demeanor.......NO!

A lot of us that have been here for quite some time do/have done what you are selling. We have tore apart cars, trucks, gas pumps by the hundreds on here and put them back together and painted them up in various degrees of finish. Also have some metal workers/fab guys that do very well in their hobby/work. Your pump is nice but IMO overpriced , it's a repop and repop's don't justify your price. Of course your attitude is over the top also.Go away.

No..... I've only been on this site a couple of years but it still amazes me how many come along and don't go by the rules. These are pretty simple rules and when you first don't follow the rules and next challenge the opinions of the collectors who want you to, well need I say more.
IMO no one on this site that's a true collector want's to pay top dollar for a fake pump so this is not where you should be vending your prize anyway.

If you notice others add their websites under their post on different topics. I always click on any new ones to check them out,and every once in a while click to see what is new. One member has a blog attached which I enjoy following. This is free advertising for members who have items for sale and provide services for the collector community. The short of my ramble is there is a way to promote your products on this site without breaking rules that your are asked to read and follow. Yes your post was creative and not a simple BTT, but a comment on someones post, giving more pics, etc. But it was in the for sale section and against rules. Being a old racer I under stand the thinking that rules are meant to be bent and tested to the limit. But the bottom line is what I think doesn't matter as to your privileges on Oldgas. Two website click ons in your post little over kill, but great job!

I think Mike put it very well. It is obvious though that you have the skill and knowledge to build a very nice, detailed piece. I think you would get more positive feedback by being helpful. Many folks on the website need parts that are not reproduced. Use your talents to be an outlet for making things that may not exist. It is going to be very difficult to sell a reproduction anything on a purist site. Look at the endless posts about fake signs for reference. Probably would get more response from Ebay really. That's where I'd try to sell it, if I was into repop pumps. I would say yes, but after you have shown that you will comply with the rules. Have respect for the website and show appreciation for the knowledge available to you.

You have the idea, and obviously you have the ambition to make it happen....BUT...that's just the beginning.

You need to be able to sell yourself FIRST.!!..then your product..AND...in the right market!!
Without this, you're doomed for failure.

1- You haven't sold yourself...I'm surprised you head fits through the door , when you leave the shop at night...Your Ego's way too big!!

2- Your product won't sell because of your ego..

3- You're not in the right market..There is a market for reproduction pumps, but it's not here.( minimal if any).

Even if you did get your privileges back...it won't do you any good.

Probably the last person to say this, BUT, You seem to have a great product and one that many on here would have or still might buy parts for there own pumps.

I as stated, was and am concerned about people passing things off as originals after many ownerships. I see that you were just unhappy with the response of mine and other post, and that is natural after all the work you put into this. I personally know I can do the same.

Let is lay and others who need your parts or entire pump will come around.

Just remember this experience and trust me you will find a way to over come this, may eat some crow now, but stay around for the turkey later.
