Not all 27s had a ships wheel it was a very rare option. The other handle was a star shaped handle that curved back towards the machine. The circle wear below the handles hole tells me this was a star shaped handle and not the ships wheel. All in all still a machine that is not seen often. Great Find!

Any idea if there's a repop wheel/star being made for these?

I may have a lead on a handle from a local restorer. I am asking $900 for those interested.

No one makes the handle aftermarket as far as I know. If I were you I would be securing the handle to help make the machine complete.

The star handle type are easier to find, the captain wheel not so much. However I'm surprised no one has made repop's of either as they aren't overly large/complicated. Actually the captains wheel could be made by a machinist pretty easy since it really is like making a rounded spindle. I've actually considered looking at safe door handles which I think is where Cavalier took the idea from.

The demand isn't that great for handles to be made.

Great machine to restore, wish you were closer and needed a pump.

Still trying to source a handle for the machine if anyone has one, or if you want to make a decent offer on it as is.

Found this online. Maybe you can pass on to new owner.
