Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Actually I think the photo is the property of the person who took it. Isn't that right? We went throught this before about copyrights and photos. Doesn't the person who took a photo own the rights to the image unless they relinquish that ownership or give permission for it's use? I think that was what was said. Maybe since it was posted on the internet that all changes. Not sure. I'll try to do a search but I always get more hits than will show up. T-way knows I think. I'm sure I'll hear about it if I'm wrong.

Thereeeeeees DICK! LOL Too! Guess I should clarify since Mike edited his post. He was wondering if anyone had a copy of the picture and said that the photo wasn't copyrighted. If it is public domain once it is posted on the internet then why have photos been removed from oldgas that came from other sites even though they did not state that they were copyrighted material on the site. Maybe just to avoid a problem but that person felt that the photo was there property. I feel like I have to add my new disclaimer..."I'm not looking for a fight, just answers" Chris

The person who takes the photo holds the copyright to it. Publishing it on the Web is no different than print as far as copyright. Images on the Web are not public domain, even if they do not carry the copyright notation.
A photo of a logo does not give the owner of the photo the rights to replicate the logo. Those rights may be held by a successor company or in the public domain. Copyrighting old logos in the public domain is possible, but it is not a lock on ownership. Litigation could prove that copyright invalid. But the cost of the litigation would probably be more than the actual commercial value of the copyright.
It will be interesting to watch the way that copyright issues are handled on the youtube.com Web site. It appears that copyright material is regularly posted there without permission.

What a shame this all is. A great image that will be filed away for fear of the copyright. What a fun hobby!

"THEY" being whom?? MIB?? Mafia? Shadowy behind the scenes puppetmasters who manipulate our government? If you ask me this has the stench of FEMA about it. I think that an undercover FEMA 'hit squad' has put the fear into Steve, and the image has been 'disappeared' into a secret file in a Washington DC building.

I didn't get a chance to see the lenses or globe, but maybe the original owner of the globe doesn't want copies made of it thinking it would depreciate the value of his original. jim

I DON'T THINK ANYONE SAID THAT THIS WAS A COPYWRITE PROBLEM . I'M SURE THAT STEVE HAS HIS REASONS FOR PULLING THE PLUG ON THE GLOBE RUN ,I DON'T KNOW THE REASON BUT WE SHOULD BE PATIENT AND NOT ASSUME ITS A COPYWRITE PROBLEM OR ANYOTHER PROBLEM FOR THAT MATTER ALL THAT DOES IS START RUMERS AND FINGER POINTING. SO LETS ALL TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND WAIT TO SEE WHAT UNFOLDS
