Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a NICE authentic 48" Mobilgas or Socony Pegasus Porcelain Shield sign for display. That's the largest size I can fit on my garage wall. Smaller, if they exist, will work but pump plates are too small.

I am a new collector, newly retired and finally have the time to fix up my garage. I'm learning a lot from this site, so any help, guidance or advice is appreciated!

PM or email me. Zman10326@gmail.com

Thanks, Mike

Also, I have a question for everyone. I know the 12 inch Mobil pump plates are extensively reproduced. But are the big 4, 5 & 6 foot Mobil/Socony Pegasus shield signs being reproduced? Thank you! -Mike

Thank you! Yes - I have seen that one and placed a bid on it. This is a re-list as his last auction topped out at $2,551.99 and didn't make reserve. At 4.5 feet it would be difficult to shoehorn onto my wall. 4 foot and under is a more ideal size.

I am still wondering if these large (4 foot plus) Pegasus shields have been reproduced? I have done some research and nothing I've seen so far indicates the large ones have been faked. But I would like an experts opinion as I am new to the hobby. And any other advice on these large shields would be greatly appreciated. I sure would like to hear what you guys have to say! Thank you. -Mike

Thanks for the T-53 warning. I did a search, and learned a lot. Lots of good reading and info here.

I came across this 6 foot Mobilgas shield on Craigslist. I am assuming the value is minimal due to the missing metal and damage that's probably irreparable. What do you guys think? Worth $100 bucks? More? Less?

I did see last night that that the large Pegasus signs are being reproduced. I forgot the sight but they looked pretty good. I do not want any repo items. Good luck on finding your sign!

But are the 4 foot and larger ones being reproduced?

Same here, especially in porcelain.

Thank you for the clarification! Not having to worry about 4 foot (or larger) reproductions makes things much easier for a novice like myself. Now I just need to find a nice one for a fair price.
