In Aug. of 2013 (man, how time flies); I did a thread on Paper and Balsa Airplane "Give-aways"... I played with such items as a youngster and honestly if I had a bigger backyard.... I still would be enjoying the flight of Balsa Airplanes....

The first Oil Company Aircraft give-aways that I personally know of; was by The Gulf Oil Company in the late 1920s:

In the 1930s, Gulf, Mobilgas and Associated Oil (most likely there were others. But I have not been lucky enough to run across them, yet) All had Paper Airplane Give-aways for their "Younger Customers"... As of yet, I do not own one of the Mobilgas Pegasus Gliders. Maybe, someday?

But, I do own a few other paper and balsa Gliders. Most notably a Sunoco, (thanks to Steve C.) and received today a Sun-Rae (F.B. Rae Oil Company), neither I had seen before:

As of today, I have paper gliders, string fliers, balsa gliders and a styrofoam glider....

From the: Gulf Oil Company, Associated Oil Company, AMOCO, APCO, CALSO, Chevron, Texaco, Sunoco Sun-Rae and Leonard Oil...

I hope that those who have such items in their Collections, will share images...

The hunt, is ever ongoing..... wink grin

Nice collection!

That's one of the irony's of life. When we are young...we can't wait to grow up. As we age...we wish somehow we could turn back time.

Bob, I would post my Sunoco glider for you but you stole the only one I've ever seen. grin
Just kidding of course!! And although I appreciate the shout out, that glider is exactly where it should be. It looks absolutely great in your collection!!!!
Also, I love the two pieces in that first picture!!! What/who is that old airplane one on the left?

Steve, thanks again for being so understanding about me; Stomping all over your bid!

As to the Airplane "Flying Toy"; The back tells the story:

The directions(the very small print) read: Grasp end of string, whirl around in circles-or over the head. Will hum best when the cardboard is straight.... (Arthur Von Senden Co. - Pgh,Pa.)

The back of the "Rocket Ship Flying Toy":

And the Directions read: Hold end of string, whirl around in circles...

Thanks to Jim Tindera (JimT) generosity, I was able to add a SOHIO paper glider to "the fold"... And, in a "blind squirrel moment on ebay; I was able to add 2 Pure Oil balsa gliders. Along with a paper glider advertising Husky Oil...

It has been a couple of months since I last posted on this thread... Thanks to Dan McGuffey (mcguffeyd1) I have been able to add a different version of the SOCONY-VACUUM Pegasus (a 1934 dated original) and last week I picked up a Phillips 66 Flight Fuel paper airplane, which I received in the mail this AM...

I've gotten enough of these "airplanes" that I think they can be considered a "true collection", now...
