Hello everyone!! Long time visitor, first time member. My question is should old porcelian and iron signs with rust spots be brought indoors for winter months or are they safe in my unheated garage??

Joe

Welcome to the site.... Your signs are fine outside in the garage during the winter. I like to pull any of my full oil cans I have out there, because of the temperature change back and forth.

ha,ha,ha,,,, nice reply Dick,,,, just make sure you don't leave them on the concrete or dirt floor, raise them up with some wood so they don't gather moisture... they were made for the cold..

Joe you can leave them up year round. You can put a coat of wax on them to help protect them some. Also you have less of a chance damageing them by leaving them up

One thing that I would like to add here about signs in the winter time or cold weather. If you have any restored signs or clear coated signs you should not leave them in the sub-zero weather. I have seen restored signs that start falling apart in sub-zero condition. Dan
