Hi guys, just about got my gilbarco 96c restored. However, I am having trouble freeing up the rod that operates the light switch. I have sprayed with WD 40 and tried using heat as well as gentle persuasion with a hammer. I don't want to mess up the part so am looking for advice on how to free it up.
Has anybody had any luck or can share any tricks?
Thanks

What you have tried has worked for me. Maybe yours is too rusty. You can try a lot of heat. Try putting the plate with the rod in a vise , heat it up real good and grab the rod with vise grip pliers then try pushing in and out. tap with the hammer again when trying to push in.

Try putting it in a bucket of water when it is hot. The sudden temperature change results in the two frozen parts contracting at different rates and thus breaking free.
