This sign is still in steel frame with hanging brackets...may possibly have pole also. Some rust damage where bolts are but overall sign looks good. Picture shown with my 5'4" daughter. Can anyone tell me if this is a collectible piece and approximate value?

very desirable sign. and looks to be in good condition

I am really not familiar with exact value, as I have never seen one sell personally. but its a multiple thousand dollar sign.

I would only be guessing... but I'd think $4k-$8k depending on the close-up condition and buyer/situation

IMO don't think you can touch one in that condition(if other side is about the same) with original ring for even close to $4500.00 At least not from a knowledgeable collector. I believe the sign will clean up nicely.

I bet it wouldn't be hard to find a buyer in the $10k range. Im sure your pm box is getting flooded. A little bit of info, Mr. Derring (one of the founders of Rebel) told me he started Mustang Oil after leaving TCR (who bought Rebel) and buying a jobber up in the Carolianas. He eventually moved back down to south Alabama and had a few stations around here. I've not researched it further yet.

Looking for any Alabama based globes and advertising such as Coastal, Rebel, Interstate Oil, Foster Oil (supertane), Mutual, Oil Well, etc...

I saw one of those several years while I was traveling through the South hauling some jukeboxes. Gas station was still there but closed. LOL Dave

Guy I know of in Western PA that has one, he said he found it hanging outside an abandoned station.

Really don't think he Found It,If it was at a closed station.
Love it when people say they Found it at an abandoned station,Someone Still Owned the Station even if it was closed.

That's the problem now a days. Sad state of affairs, when a person believes they found an item on private property and feel they have the right to lay claim to it. Even sadder that, they can tell their friends about it who are also equally convinced that they found it.

Alright, let me rephrase that. He "bought" it from an abandoned station. Didn't think I needed to go into a whole explanation, but he took 5 minutes to tell me the whole story of how he spent 10 years constantly trying to get the owner to sell.

One has to watch his words around here. lol I was traveling across Alabama from Columbus, Ga. and headed to Hatiesburg, MS. I saw that sign and was amazed that it was still there. It is probably in some collector's stable today. Dave
