Been working hard on this beast. was starting to fit things back together when I discovered a major screwup. Both doors are for the same side. Not LOL after all the work done so far. When I got this was in parts and didnt notice hinge place. does anybody know if the doors for these are reversable by taking off hinge and remounting on opposite side PLEASE HELP. am hoping so but dont want to look at it untill this weekend.Am sure can have the hinges removed and rewelded, but now is not the time because will have to rework and repaint the skin OUCH.

I do not have one right in front of me, but I do not see why just moving the hinge's to the other side on the frame would not work? You might have to do some riggin, but I do not think anyone would ever know you did that...

Another reason to PRE-ASSEMBLE, BEFORE painting.
Might be easier to move the frame part of the hinge, than on the door.

Dick is right. Try moving the hinge pins to the other side. However, I'm not sure if the hinge is going to work that way.

I absolutely agree with Dick...if the skins are already painted, try moving the hinges on the frame to the other side...you might also have to reverse the mechanism that attaches to the base that lifts the door and secures it, but A LOT easier and less work than welding the doors and repainting. Plus if you have to "improvise" a little, it will be easy to hide it. Good Luck.

thats what I wonder can see drill holes that would line up. Just figured or hoped the manufacturer planned it this way to cut costs for separate doors. will have to wait and see later got cold and windy and flurries........not the time to be outside messing around.

Howdy Workman,
I just got in after looking over the 39. The frame has all the bolt holes on both sides. So it should be possible to mount the doors either way. Problem, the base is only drilled on one side for the latching mechanisms. It would be easy to redrill the base but it does not look like the latching mechanism would work if switched.
My two cents would be to mount the doors as they are and make up a latch to hold the one door shut. Then you can enjoy your pump and if need be get the proper door and redo it at a later date. If you need pictures let me know. I still have my buddy's camera.

I have had this happen before and I moved the hinges to the other side of the pump frame but then the problem is the door latch assembly is backwards. When you reach inside the small access door and move the lever that catches the bottom of the door and lifts it up under the chrome strips on top of the pump it lifts up on the hinge side of the door and the door binds up because it is supposed to be lifted on the non hinge side of the door and if you try and move the lever assembly around then the lever ends up on the opposite side of the pump and you have to reach through the access door clear to the other side of the pump to move the lever. you can hardly reach it and then the base has to be redone for the lever mounting and on and on. Also on some models [like mine] the hinges bind against the channel that the hose retracts into up at the top. It can be done but it takes a lot of cutting and grinding to make it happen. I would get the right door or try and move the hinges on the door. Just my 2 cents. I you have any questions feel free to call me you have my number. Good luck Don

I had this happen to me before on one I did in Shamrock. I just screwed the door on from the inside and made the other door functional.

wife said when she bought this there was 2 same pumps with doors off. She tried to contact the auctioneer to see if we could find who bought the other pump. Know he would be willing to trade a door for one straightened and painted. But no luck auctioneer said the other did not sell and was sold for cash no way to tell who bought it. Anyone know what a good used door goes for these days LOL probibly more than I want to pay. But at least they sure look purdy all done up. Also noticed the bottom door latch is all bent up mayne take out and grind down the part that lift the door and just figure how to lock in place

This happend to me also. The locking lifting mech will hold the door on but the un hinged side will flap around. I latched the door and then took some wire ties or zip ties and tied the bottom to the frame from the hindge bracket.you cant open that side but if its up against a wall only one side needs to open anny way. The crome on the top holds the top shut if you adjust it rite. The latch should lift it under the crome and hold it there when adjusted properly. Worked for me and you cant tell looking at it.

Thanks for all the advice I moved the hinge pins to the oposite site but now have to drill out the hinges to fit on the pins. Nobody said it was gonna be easy. Wife thinks we should find another door and just do it right. LOL she said the other door would make a nice addition to her puter room. So gonna post an add for another door and hope to find one,
