Hey Guys,

Check out this cool picture i found of my grandfather Eugene in 1927. I noticed behind him is an 'ask for Socony mobil oil' sign. I've been wanting one of these signs for a while and now that i've found this photo i really want one. My grandfather passed in 2010 and if i were lucky enough to find one, i would display it with this photo next to it in honor and remembrance of him. Anyway, thought i would share.

-Kevin

That is awesome!! Do you know what kind of pump that is? Can anyone tell him? Would be cool to get the whole pump to put the sign on.

Considering your hobby interest, that is a very cool picture to have in your life!! Congrats!!

The pump is a Gilbert and Barker Model 65 or 66? Both were very similar and used the same style crank to operate. I have one of these in the barn that was used at the Naval Academy, in Annapolis, Md. to fuel motor launches that tended the ships at anchor. Mine is working but needs new skins due to the salt air on the Bay. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Great picture, Kevin. Looks like my G & B 78. Handle is on back side towards wall.

I have finally gotten my hands on one of these signs. Can't wait to display it with the picture.

Thanks everyone again for the kind words.

Can I please have your permission to use the above picture of the 78, it is 100 times better than the one I have been using in my books?
