From what I have read in the old parts manuals, Litharge & Glycerine was what was used to seal Vis-Glass units on pumps.
I know very little about it. I have read that Litharge is a lead based glass or ceramic glue. Litharge is a white lead.
White lead is made by exposing regular lead to an acid or alkylide.
That's all I know about it.
I would think there may still be some industrial uses, but as far as consumer uses,
since lead has been taken out of everything, it may be hard to find.
Try searching the net for Litharge,
Good luck
Joe
I will add this ,
I was a pump mechanic for several years.
and still rebuild meters periodicaly.
I have yet to see anything that will stop gasoline. Even meters with o-rings will start to get an oil seepage stain.
A rebuilt pump should be used, a restored pump should not, it will eventualy ruin your paint.
