I recentely bid on and won the bid on a large sign being sold thru Ebay. I promptly paid for the sign with a pay Pal and waited for the seller to contact me. He finally contacted me and told me he was unwilling to honor the price I won the sign at and would refund the funds. (It was $1500) I informed him that I won the bid according to Ebay agreements and he needed to release it to me. He ostensibly called Ebay and spoke to someone in Ebay in the Phillipeans and convinced them to allow him to refund the funds thru Pay Pal and then re listed the sign with a higher reserve just like he said he was going to do. I called and spoke to an ebay rep every day for a week telling them about the situations and all agreed with me that it was in violation of their rules but that they would NOT stop his new listing even tho it is part of their agreement with bidders that they will enforce their rules? I was/am extremely disenchanted with Ebay for their failure to keep their written agreements and recommend that all bidders beware, as this can happen to you too. Very sad.news as it is totally unnessary and out of order. I'll let you make the judgement on why they don't enforce their own terms of agreement. I have my own opinion.

they usually side with the bidder, the seller must have a lot of feedback & makes ebay a lot of money... cool

Welcome to buying on E-Bay. Their customer service just keeps getting worse everyday when you can actually get ahold of someone who, one can speak good English, two cares about helping you or three puts you on hold for a supervisor who never ever picks up! It's hit and miss with mostly misses if ever you have a problem.

Thanks
Mike

Post a link to the relisted sign so we can all send him a message asking if he will honor the winning bid or not.

Not surprising, I've had sellers do this to me too. You could probably win if you sued them but it would be very difficult unless you live in the same city. Ebay could make this hard on the sellers but it boils down to their bottom line, they want everyone's money and they just don't care that you didn't get what you want, they probably got paid twice.

I had a similar situation years ago and was just as disappointed as you.
Bottom line was as long as the seller didn't keep your money, refunded your money, and relisted it again with ebay,eBay will oblige him.
It sucks,he sucks & eBay sucks.

It is a sad state of affairs, no matter where you look. This moral decay and rot is all around us. Very few honorable people and corporations around nowadays.

I belive you can still leave feedback once you have won. Same thing happen to me with a car. Seller accepted best offer sent money to him. He kept telling me he hadnt recived money. He was just dicking around with a better offer. Contacted ebay they where no help at all worthless. Finally got money back. I now only use paypal.

Same thing happened to me once, seller said he could never sell item for that price. He didn't even give me a refund, I had to file a Paypal dispute to get my money back. He re-listed the item, and I bid. Every time I was outbid, I would bid higher. I ended up being the high bidder for way more than my original purchase price, then refused to pay. Never saw item re-listed again.
