Full can's to me seem like a fire hazzard. Also a reason for insurance to decline a claim. When it comes to collecting it's all about the condition. I've never once met a collector that would pass up a minty can for a lesser due to it being full. The oil inside is obsolete expired and useless I would say drain.

...I know I wouldn't...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Eventually whatever is in the can will start to degrade the can. That old anti-freeze will strip the paint right off the can, or almost "bleach" it in a way. Irreversible damage that can easily be avoided.

To be or not to be? Equally important question, to ask one self is; Are you an oil collector or an oil can collector???

Drain them. In the event of an insurance claim you will be denied coverage. Every home owners policy clearly states limits on the amount of automotive service fluids that can be stored in a residential zoned property or within the confines of a dwelling.

If you are going to sell them, leave them full. You can offer to drain them if the buyer does not want them full.

I have very few full cans. Dont get the fascination with full ones. I dont understand why some pay more for them either.
Take a full minty Gargoyle can and drop it 4 foot. Then take an empty minty Gargoyle can a drop it 4 foot.
Which one is better can? Dents or not?
Empty ones are better IMO. No leaking no accidents to damage them as bad.

just my 2 pennies.

I prefer to own cans of oil,not cans of air.
I sometimes read the argument against having cans full of oil being because when you drop them.....drop them?
I suppose if you have Parkinsons disease or lived near San Francisco in Oct.1989,that would make sense, but honestly how many times a year do you drop an oil can?
I've never really dropped an oil can from any height,be it full or empty.
That comparison reminds me of an owner reinforcing the reason he gutted all his original gas pumps was because he has a bad back....seriously?

I've had a shelve unit fall of my wall and it had 12 full oil cans one happened to be seeping and there was a paper can as well. When the shelve fell the metal can that was seeping had a big dent and the seam sepereated and oil was everywhere the paper can pretty much exploded when the shelve landed on it and crushed it.

From that day I will never have a full can of anything on any of my shelves. I don't care if it's a mint Polly or a roached out can. Plus my insurance co. won't cover me if there's a fire. But in the end it's you cans do what you want but empty the anti freeze that stuff kills graphics.
