I think Texaco Ethyl would have been a silver pump.

Recently we did a visible Texaco Ethyl, used mainly red and black, but used silver and green pin stripes to accent. It was subtle but it worked, especially the green accent because it went with the "T". Could have used more accent I guess. Not original I'm sure. It's in this post:

I HATE red and white, won't do another pump that combo, doesn't sell. It's the only color combo I avoid like the plague, but ultimately it's a personal taste thing.

I usually find a pump pic from the Internet, put it in Photoshop or some other graphic program and try different colors and stripes until we find something interesting. Much easier to visualize that way.

...Texaco Ethyl would have been a silver pump, possibly with a black base...

...if you're not going to paint the pump to period-correct oil company spec's, you might as well paint it pink with unicorn decals...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

White Star, I'm sure your pump will look great whatever color you end up going with. I did a sky chief recently where I went with a really light silver, think it was pretty close to an original silver, looked good but painting the silver was a pain in the butt. It was impossible to do proper spot repairs on the paint, blending it in I mean. Just dabbing the silver for touch up looked bad too. I ended up shooting the doors a couple times because I had spots I couldn't fix. Not trying to put you off silver, just wanted to give you heads up it has challenges.
