This just ended on eBay. The grommet holes are different from the examples shown in the books. Looking for some clarification from the experts here.

Notice the A too is different? I have owned both versions, I my opinion it is right. I was the back bidder too!

West coast I believe Notice it is black not blue from the photo. Could be a very dark blue like the early east coast ppp's but I think black. Not 100% sure. Also the horse is outlined which is like the east coast pump plates. ODD. Never seen a west coast outlined horse other than globes. This could be the exception
Wish I paid more attention to that detail. I was the back up to the back up bidder LOL.
Have a feeling it will be in BOTW

Dan

Glad you fessed up Randy. I think it looks legit and believe it is probably very very dark blue. But black lettered mobilgas globes are outlined Peggy's for the most part. Only west coast Mobil items I seen with the outlne.

I would think so. At least the grommets. If not the chains would not hang straight down. I found this version in the Mobil collectors book pg70 but it doesnt mention the bottom part.

in my opinion that was a steal, you back-up bidders should have bid more.

That was a steal, I agree. If I didnt own it I would have been all over it. For what its worth..mine is outlined as well dark blue which I assume is similiar to one sold.

Mainly focused on Oilzum, Jenney, Harris Oil items & original paint gas pumps.

Believe the first sign with the open "a" is the older version. It also has the caracteristic sharp bottom both on the "b" and the "a" which is defenitely older than the second sign.
