I have an opportunity to purchase the signs shown below. At this point, I don't have dimensions on all signs or which ones are double sided. Here is what I do know.
Buick sign is single sided and dated Aug. 1954
Mobilgas Socony Vacuum is IR 1938
Quaker State is 1981
Sealed Power is 20"W x 31" long

I would appreciate input in pricing the signs.

Hi Joe, I have a Buick sign like that I gave 300 for. It is painted steel, not porcelain.

Looking for photos, etc from 60s era Shell-A-Rama gas station and Pal's Diner, Rt. 17 Mahwah, NJ
& US or state highway signs, shields, route markers

The sealed power flange sign is one you don't see to often, I don't know how much its worth, but I would do everything I could do to own it.

The value signs are the Sealed Power, GMC and Mobil.

The rest add up to maybe $1200-1400 average for the group due to condition/age.

Here is another interesting sign that the seller just sent, Polarine, double-sided, 30". I googled for 45 minutes and never found a sign like this. Colors are vibrant and appears to be in good condition. Value?

The seller purchased the Mobilgas pegasus sign 10 years ago. Is it unusual for a 1938 sign to be in what appears to be good condition? Would a repro have the IR 38 date code?

The Polarine turns up now and again, it's another lollipop variation.

Can a repro have IR 38? Yes, someone who goes to the trouble of making a 54" porcelain might go to that extreme. Though I'm not saying the one you're looking at is or isn't.

I don't know what the real value is, but a guy out here in Ca. had one of the Sealed Power flange signs and was asking 1500 for it. He seemed to have a pretty good handle on what most of his stuff was worth, don't know if he ever sold it though

I don't think there are any reasons to doubt the authenticity of the Mobilgas shield. It just happens to be a nice example with a clean field.

...good question...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Seller has not placed a price on any of the signs yet. I am trying to educate myself so that I can make good offers for the seller and myself. i am only interested in 4 of the signs. I have no concept of what it would cost to ship such a large sign as the Mobilgas pegasus from Cleveland area to N. TX. Seller purchased the Mobilgas sign 10 years ago from a collector; which could mean something or nothing.

Yeah Id love to have that sealed power sign too...

Few auction results for you.

Identical Buick sign in similar condition $499 (2013 ebay)

Sealed power sign (slightly worse than yours) $459 (ebay 2013)

QuakerState tombstone $200 - $350, I sold one of those and got more but it was nicer.

"let us mobiloil your car", all over auctions, $600, $1300, $400, $350 between 2011 - 2013. All much nicer.

GMC truck sign, $700 (2006 proxibid)

Champion sign $48.50 (ebay UK), $127 (ebay 2013), much nicer than sign pictured.

Hope that helps, auction results from Worthpoint. There are many more auction results, that was my quick scan.

Paul
