For those of you who are struggling with resizing your images so they fit on a computer screen: Check in your camera box for software that came with it on CD-ROM. Many camera makers bundle free software with the camera that resizes images pretty well. Another option is to buy or download a graphics editor like Photoshop Elements, PhotoImpact or Jasc Paint Shop Pro. You can get a copy of the version 8 of Jasc Paint Shop Pro on Amazon.com for less than $30. Version 9 is out now with a couple more features for $120. Version 8 is all most people need. Search for "Paint Shop Pro" using the form at the bottom of this page to search Amazon.
Most users have 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 screen resolution. Part of the screen is taken up by your browser's buttons and bars and part by the stuff other than your image on the Web page. This leaves a limited space for images or the viewer is forced to scroll sideways or up/down to see the image. By resizing to no more than 600 pixels wide and 400 pixels tall, nearly all viewers can see the complete image without scrolling. Plus dial-up users appreciate more efficient images so they don't have to wait so long for them to load.

Hello Jim, Thank you for sharing Imageshack with the readers of Oldgas.com. I am a total un-savvy computer person, so when I was looking for a way to post some pictures, I never would have known whether it was good or bad; all I knew was that it was free and easy to do. Speaking of which why I posted picutures in the first place: I am still looking for somewhere to find a sign for my "parts manual holder" (Posting on 11/12/04 @ 11:29 AM). I received one idea, but any help/thougths would be greatly appreciated Thank you, and have a great day! Fred

That first picture you posted was a real turkey, but the second one was a beauty!
Oops I take it back, that islander photo is HUGE, have to re-size that one. (Never mind that was elcamino trying to post)

Edit to add the [img] opening and closing tags to the image link so that they appear on this page. [This message has been edited by Oldgas (edited 11-26-2004).]

When you upload an image to ImageShack, the next screen shows code for several different uses. For Shop Talk, you need to select one of two code choices that say they are for "Forums." The code required will include: [img] If the code includes: It will not work. That is html code which is not processed for security reasons. Click on "Copy URL" next to one of the forum choices. Say "Yes" to the pop-up message to copy to clipboard. Put your cursor in the Shop Talk message box and press the "Control" key and then the letter "V" at the same time. That will place the code for forums in your message and your image will appear after you submit the form. Click on "Help!" at the bottom of this page for more image help. ------------------ Jim "Oldgas" PottsYour host and moderator
