The price on these 850s sure has gone up recently. I still had the mindset of them being 1500 unrestored/complete.
Does round vs. square make a difference?

At the 1500 dollar range the round vs. square was a difference! But at 2500, from just a couple months ago????

I'd be happy to sell my single for half of what I paid for a twin, that sounds fair doesn't it?
I know a lot of guys don't love 850's, and think $1500 is fair money. Personally I think they are under appreciated, and in my opinion, a complete barn fresh 850 with nice original paint should bring $2500, I wouldn't sell mine for a penny less. That being said, it is for sale..............

You are right Lance. $1500 is fair money
NOW, before I get everyones britchs all in a uproar! I have seen lots of 850's here in Colorado in the 2000.00 and up range. Plenty to choose from. They are RUSTY and need a friend if ya' now what I mean. I have built street rods for years and buy the best I can find......Might take awhile to find what ya' want to start with, but take the time and do it once! I bought my 850 2 months ago (maybe?) for 1500. A good buy I thought ( Not Great ). Bought nothing but decals, globe, hose, faces.
If we as a group can bring the prices up I am all for it! LOLOL

Well Ron, Since ya' started the topic!
Wrong Visi!!! The 850 Visi is unique to the 850!! So, if, and I say IF, your price was right. The correct Visi would cost the unsuspecting buyer another 300 dollars.
But , I understand. I really do. You are a dealer! You buy at the prices I quote and sell at the dealer price! NOTHING wrong with that. Its just that the absolute vast majority of folks here are buyers not dealers.
So, Who is right?
Someone asks the price for an 850.
In my humble opinion. The question is asked generally by a hobbiest of a hobbiest.
Huge difference!!!!
Larry

Bottom Line: If you are patient & diligent, you can find an 850 for $1250-$1500. If you want one RIGHT NOW...well $2500 is the going tip-top retail price. The one I sold the other day @ $2450 was a square-bottom that was honestly just a paint-job and globe/hose/nozzle from being done. It was ridiculously cherry.
On a side note...being that the double 850 is a $10,000-ish piece, what would a double Bennett 150 bring?? I'm guessing less, but how much less?

Seth, I'd go $6500 on a twin 150. I'd also be willing to trade two singles

Hey Mark, Miles Little in Midland,NC has several to choose from. He has square and round, all unrestored, prices range from $1950-$2200. His number is 704-888-4639 and cell is 704-791-1438. He's a lot closer to you than some of these up North.

Mark, When Seth mentioned a square base, it reminded me to check one of our garages. Forgot I had this one, also. It looks to still be in original paint. The bulk plant owner said they backed a truck into it one day, so is dented, but you can see the faces and condition is good. It's $2,500 also. ------------------ Ron Bettin 740-774-OHIO(6446) bettin@bright.net

That is a very nice 850! The dent means nothing.

Found some interesting photos in an old file - shows both Toke 850's. The square 850 is at Bruce Millers bulk plant outside Cincinnati. The photo with the round 850 (visi to) shows some of the stuff we bought from him at the time. Still have the Chevron pump and the blue Toke visible pump. Between Bruce and his father, they had the Shell bulk plant over 50 years. Bruce died about a year ago. Most of the neon signs and most all the pump plates shown in the first sign book by Scott Benjamin and Wayne Henderson, were items we also purchased from Bruce about a year apart - probably 4+ years ago. ------------------ Ron Bettin 740-774-OHIO(6446) bettin@bright.net
