Well, Dwaine talked me into it with a little help from him. I want to run a pump plate of the month on the 10th of every month until we run out of pump plates. That should take a few months. I'll take suggestions on what companies to run both west and east coast and also everybody inbetween especially those midwest guys with all the auctions and stuff on every street corner. Ha Ha. I will start it in March and see how it goes. Any input will be taken into consideration and is welcome. Let me know what you guys and gals think. Ted

Ted:

Sounds like a great idea!

'Thank You' to you and Dwaine for accepting the project.

Just a suggestion - but how about Texaco? Most of us have picked up a Texaco Pump Plate (or 2 . . . or 3) in the course of our collecting. Texaco was a large distributor and covered most (if not all) of the U.S. at one time or another (at least I think so - I'm not the expert). Plus their plates have been reproduced, so the postings could also inform others of what to look for in a reproduction.

Since the plates are fairly 'common', you would probably get postings from a lot of us. It would be a great way to start off.

Jim

Thanks for the input so far. Looks like Texaco is ahead so far 2 to 0. We will see what else pops up for a bit. Thats a great idea about throwing in some info on repops. We all learn. As far as an expert I'm far from it so this will be fun. I was thinking after we do some nationwide ones we can offer differant parts of the country and include the boys up north in Canada. I'm sure Pogogas might have one or two suggestions. Dwaine is right I work extra hours and jobs to pay for my habit. It beats drugs and alcohol. Ha Ha Ted

Texaco sounds good. There were different sized Firechief and Skychief plates, curved, and we will see what other versions turn up. By the way, drugs and alcohol are cheaper!

Hey 41150,,, you're right on petroliana being addictive. But it is much more addictive than nicotine or alcohol or drugs...probably ought to have a warning from the Surgeon General or something....

I'm also having a hard time explaining the excessive milage on our vehicles each year to my wife. I go every weekend, to swap meets ,antique malls , car shows, you name it. I can't count the times i've went up and down the same backroads hoping I might have missed something. Man I gotta go, it's beerthirty m m m m m m""""""

Okay you are right. It cost way more than drugs and alcohol. I'm in denial. It sure is fun anyway. Ted
