Just curious what you guys make of these grommets. The sign looks correct and I would bet the ribbons are also. But these signs don't typically have grommets. Added by some station owner at some point in it's life?

Wait, as soon as I posted this it struck me. I think their drilled out rivet heads.

Doubt those are drilled out rivets, too on center and perfect holes.

They look like the grommets that are on pole barn screws
Thanks Mike

...those signs had no grommets - and there are two 'top' ribbons in the grouping...I'd guess some over-enthusiastic restorer added the grommets at some point...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Maybe even nylon washers...at any rate, not what was used back in the day. Top ribbon is just placed in place for photo as it has no mounting screws in place. Mark is correct that those are top ribbons as the bottom ribbon is much longer in order to reach down to the bottom edge of the door.

And top ribbons seem to be easier to find
Thanks Mike
