Hi Guys,

Spaces are selling great for the Ohio Gas show! Spaces are also selling well for the International Antique Advertising & Coin-Op Show! Last year we had over 400 spaces sold between the two shows!

NEW THIS YEAR: We are having a consignment auction at 1:00pm on Saturday! We have several nice signs, some globes, several Coke items and a 40+ piece collection of oilers and oil cans. All the cans are near mint condition! The best news is that there is NO buyers premium! The auction will last about 2 hours.

We still have some spaces available if needed. Details are available from the link on the events page.

There also is a large sitting / food area for folks to hang out in and meet other oldgas folks!

We thank you for your support of our show.

See you all soon.

Steve

You guys are right, it's a great show. I've
been going for 4 years now and I look forward to this time of year. Look for me walking around, I'll have on a blue Vic's Place T-shirt and baseball cap. You will
know it's me by grin on my face and the "can we go now" look on my wife's face. Hope to see you there.

I won't be able to go to Ohio Gas this year, I'm leaving Thursday morning for the PinWizards Convention in Allentown, PA. It's a large gathering for one of my other hobbies....pinball machines. I'll definitely be at the Columbus CTO Convention. Too many hobbies and not enough time or money. I hope you guys have a great time in Dayton!

Going to the Dayton show Saturday. I am looking for the 6x7"Contains Lead Anti-knock compounds sign. I have one that says Tetraethyl but it is the wrong one. Hoping someone will have one that might sell or trade for my Tetraethyl sign. See you there. Dean

I had an email from someone that went to the show. There was a guy there with a one piece Sinclair Aircraft globe that he had traded ten globes for. Turns out the Sinclair might be a repro!!!!!!!! He had the sellers name and other info posted.
Know the people you are dealing with! If you don't know them ask a reputable dealer or collector about them. Research what globes have been repopped. The more valuable the globe the more diligent you need to be.
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!
Bob

Hey Guys! The show was great. Got my Mobil Gas Special globe from Richard Weir and it was as nice as he described.

As Bob mentioned earlier about the Sinclair Aircraft globe, has anyone else had any information about other one-piece globes being reproduced and the people responsible for them? We need to work together by posting the names of the dishonest on this site just like what was done at the Ohio Gas Show.

We all need to be informed, but we better not mention names. We don't need legal trouble. I'd be OK with everyone putting together a list of repros. Marked or not. The only reason to make an unmarked repro is to deceive someone.

Bob, You are right to some excitant ... like the guy that bided on Hubba's globe might have read it was New Old Stock but that doesn't give him the right to come to this site and post negative feedback about Hubba. Now on the other hand if a guy has burned 4 or 5 people with high dollar fakes and is in trouble then I think I would want to know. I saw the Sinclair Aircraft globe and I would have thought it was an original. I am no globe expert but if one of us have been on the buying end and had an opportunity to find out the peoples names, it might make us more cautious. He had the guys name right there in red ink and said this isn't the first one he has done! I just don't want to get burned and no one else here to get burned either. How is it different that we wouldn't want to mention someone's name that is taking people for thousands but will post item numbers off ebay about negative buyers or sellers?

Well, I thought about what I typed there and have changed my mind a little. Maybe we shouldn't name people that we don't really know if that happened to or not. The stuff that goes on with ebay is a matter of what actually did happen between a buyer and seller. The only thing we can do is warn people of what some guy at the show had said. You know the saying "innocent until proven guilty"

Hello out there everyone. I am the guy whose name was on the poster. Glad you guys are smart enough not to label me a "crook" just yet. ALL of this trouble about one-piece globes comes from ONE individual that is trying to cover up some of his own wrong-doing that will soon be out in court here in Memphis, Tn. There is a case going on and I intend on going all the way with it. I can't elaborate on all the details but what I can tell you is that one person called several individuals and told them there globes were phony without any documentation or even examining the globes. He went off comparision photos of similar globes. I will let you know this will probably be a bad deal for some because the value of real globes has already been tarnished by one guy just because he said they were repos and EVERYONE believes he is the final word. He is going to be exposed. I have documentation on where I bought most of the globes and will pursue this to the end.

Roger,
Obviously we don't know the facts. Only those directly involved do. Thanks for posting what information you could.

Roger, please post the trial information - docket number, court the trial is in, etc. If it's a public trail, then the transcripts are/will be public too.

When the trail is over, anyone that wants to, can request a copy of the transcript of the trial and see for themselves what was 'proven in court'. Once the trial has been completed, anything anyone might post here related to the trail, and taken from the trial transcripts, is not going to get the site in any trouble. It will all be a matter of 'public record'.

Hopefully, this trial will clear up any confusion steming from these misunderstandings.

Later . . .

Jim

I will be glad to as soon as the information is available. Right now though, it is in the discovery stages and has a long way to go. I don't have any other info that my lawyer will let me give out. I will keep everyone posted. Does anyone out there have a picture of the poster the guy posted with my name on it? I know this, he has been a globe collector since the late 1950's and inspected the globe at length BEFORE the purchase. Buy the way, the deal was for 3 complete globes and 3 single lenses, not 10 like the earlier post said. Anyone with that picture please send me a copy or call. I could use it and may need it should I decide to go to Ohio and file suit for liable. Thanks for all your concern!!

Roger, why not take the globes in question back and avoid a lot of legal expense? Our HOBBY ?? does not need any negative publicity. As value rises in any commodity the greed ,stories and competition increases. Some of the high prices I have seen lately [in my opinion] are not haveing a positive impact on our HOBBY,Rex.

Rex, being a globe collector yourself, you ought to be the first to know that perseption is key here. Once a globe has been "labeled" a repop by others then the value is already gone. No one will touch the globes with a ten-foot pole. Why don't you get the person who ruined the value to buy them back and save the hobby the grief? We are talking about alot of money here and I am not Bill Gates.

Heres a good question... I know there are a lot of people that are globe experts but I think Scott B. would be the one that would have the last say in what that globe is. Repo or org. has Scott seen it and what did he say about it? He has seen the fakes and should know what it is. Rex is right, i won't buy any 1 piece globes because of what has happened! You know things like this is what will scare people away! The others are hard enough to keep staight. If people are going to make repo's DATE them!

Since this topic has turned into a discussion of a dispute that is currently in litigation, I'm going to close this topic. Most of us really know very little about what is really going on here. It is not a good practice to make statements based on partial knowledge or hearsay during legal action.

Since I don't want this Web site to get involved in this lawsuit, I ask that this not be discussed here until the matter is settled legally. If you want to email each other, you are on your own.
