I did not want to do a full restoration on this pump, but freshened it up. The globe holder had rusted away so I purchased and installed a repro. Original conduits were completely filled with rust and I wanted to run new wiring. I did not remove the tank, just rinsed it out. Orange is the only paint color I can find anywhere on the pump. There are no holes where "leaded gas" signs or gasoline brand signs were ever installed. Has anyone ever seen an orange pump with no signage? The last photo is the before image of the tank area.

I also restore brass/copper fire extinguishers as a hobby.
Joe

Nice looking pump. I would guess it was a Gulf unit, and had decals originally.

I think your (freshened up) job is awesome, it's got a old look to it that's perfect . Something different as well with the orange . Great job!

Pretty neat, looks great! Signage? think they done it back then mostly with the branding of the globe. When I found my 5 gal. the leaded sign was wired on with a piece of what looked like coat hanger and you could tell it had been that wat for some time.
