The pic of the pumps in Italy (where my brain slipped a gear LOL) made me struggle to figure when I last saw full-serve here in Maryland. Well in this state, it would be the last time you filled up! And not that far from us...I guess I've missed it, doing a hour flight to visit my folks in New England instead of an 11 hour drive. http://t.co/79Cf8sbjdj

Oregon is also a "Full Service" State... (there are a few exceptions in Oregon where one can pump their own fuel at "non-retail Stations"... such as "Card Lock Facilities")

I remember getting yelled at by a station attendant in Oregon for pumping my own gas the first time I worked in the state back in the 90's, to me it was a bit of a shock to hear you couldn't pump your own gas there as I had been pumping gas into my parent's cars since I was old enough to lift the hose off the pump and put it into the car! I kinda laughed at it but then I thought heck it gives people jobs so no big deal....

Nicole, great article thanks for sharing.
With Swifty gone here in the Midwest, not many Full Serve stations left here. I have always known New Jersey and Oregon still had full serve and hence the value on my Full Serve signs won't go up until they go Self Serve.

great article Nicole and not trying to downplay you -- just adding few facts -- FULL SERVICE used to mean check oil, water, battery, belts, tire air pressure & wash windows -- NOW they do put gas in car but Oregon law is not allowed to TOP OFF a gas tank some will if you ask and you (might) get your windows washed if you ask but what they call (full service) is debatable. Should be U-fill or We-fill stations Laroy

At Phillips 66 station I worked at , we had to offer to vacuum the floor and empty the ash tray and check the spare tire air. Most common purchase was 3 gallons for $1.00
