A lot of those with that date and spray type have been showing up on Ebay...Plus look at the majority on there have NO grommets. And the T green seems the wrong color. Also, a lot of the green Diesel signs with 47 date and circle R and wrong color shade all over the place on ebay. I would pass..Just my opinion.

Mark I hate commenting on pieces without having them in my hands, but I think it's good. They made them into the mid sixties. It is missing all the grommets. The diesel L is harder to find than the regular diesel. Do you have a photo of the back ?

I haven't seen any green diesel 2 with a circle R trademark dated 47 on ebay ?

But as you mention there has been other red plates missing the grommets on ebay lately.

I just noticed the lines are awful sharp, there should be more red at the nozzle tip.

I think that is a 64 when I saw it a while back ? The number was not clear.

Do you guys see how much green is at the tip ?

...thanks, guys - I'm looking at the typeface used for the date, primarily...looks different than anything I've seen...I could be wrong, but one of the other signs offered was a single-sided version of a sign that I've only seen as a double-sided - and the date on that made no sense...

...anyone have a Diesel Chief L that they can compare? I'm not looking to buy this sign - I'd just like to know if my suspicions are justified...

...Doug, here's a pic of one at Mason-Dixon, in 2014, from Thermoman's post:

Mark I'm really thinking stay away from that, after looking at the spay. The date looked funny to me also, but I don't have anything to compare any more. If you look at my snapfish album I sent you, you may see them there. I can resend if you want. I'm sure Dan lappin & Pete (shelby) have them ?

Here is a picture of mine. Came off a diesel pump in an old Texaco bulk plant.

Everything about that sign in question looks "funny" to me, but the biggest thing is like Doug mentioned the spray is way off...the lines and the small amount of solid red at tip or start of spray pattern. For what it's worth here's mine....
