Make an Esso Kerosene elephant sign? I know there are a ton of fakes being pumped out of India that say Bengal on them, Did North America Imperial/Esso ever make a real one?

If you had typed in Esso elephant sign in the search bar up on the right of the page, you get three pages of topics, this way you can decide for yourself. The sign has been discussed many times. Heres a link for you.

http://www.google.com/cse?cx=partner-pub-4762225795683346:9826654340&ie=UTF-8&q=esso+elephant+sign&sa=Search&ref=www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php%3Fubb%3Dpostlist%26Board%3D8%26page%3D1#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=esso%20elephant%20sign&gsc.page=1

You might have to copy and paste it.

I don't know the answer to your question and therefore didn't,but your 2nd flippant "I'm entitled" attitude makes me glad I didn't even if I did.....geez.

I believe there are original ones, maybe foreign, and fake ones. I am in no way an expert on elephant signs so I didn't voice my opinion..

I also do not think North American Imperial/ Esso ever made the sign. Maybe Veribrite, A&M or another company.

The only location(s) that I know of where ESSO Kerosene with the Elephant logo was used; was India... (now the Counties of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh)....

I was stationed as an Advisor for a short period of time during the mid 1970s, in India. ESSO Kerosene signs were as commonplace in the Country as seeing advertising signs for "Fast Food" Restaurants are here, now... They seemed to be everywhere.....

Heres one in the auction in Columbus this weekend... https://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDetail.a...-nice-graphics.
I dont see Rory describing it as a reproduction so they must feel it is legit. Honestly, I have never given these enough attention to be of any help as far as old vs. new....

Bingo... even if there are originals, they will forever be tarnished by the large amount of ones coming from India

What would that sign sell for if there were no known fakes? Substantially more than the $250 the one brought at auction in Columbus yesterday.

Wanted: Gas pump globes:Sinclair & affiliates, IL companies. Ripple bodies. Anything Sinclair, Stoll, Pierce, 4 Bros.

There are Standard oil kerosene and oil signs out there with the elephant on them. I would say the price would be comparable.probably in the 400 to 600 range.

Thank you to all of you who have answered me and given me some very good information, much appreciated. As for cold pizza, you could not have written such rubbish about being (entitled) then you could ever imagine. I am not of that generation and have worked since I was 15 and ate a lot of shite sandwiches. I apologize to anyone that I offended other than cold pizza who offered nothing to this conversation. Again, without understanding anyone's situation keep your non contributing drivel to yourself.
