I just got this stuff I am trying to find out what the chevron sign is for? it is porcelain. Any help would be great.

The Chevron sign is a porcelain panel that served as an "ad glass" of sorts for certain model Bowser pumps from the late 40s and early 50s. Don't have Jack's book right here to identify exactly which ones, but in the 580s-590s series. They mounted on top of the dial face but under the window, and were spotlit just as the dial face was from a bulb inside the cabinet.

I've only seen these metal ad panels in painted versions. Never seen one in porcelain. Scott is yours porcelain?

Dave, What brand used painted tin? All that I've seen are porcelain.


Wanted: Gas pump globes:Sinclair & affiliates, IL companies. Ripple bodies. Anything Sinclair, Stoll, Pierce, 4 Bros.

I know Phillips had painted ones.
