Would this writing on the bottom of this be considered the date the item was made?
Thanks

It's one of those rare pieces made in the future - year 9137!

Im a mfg guy in my real life, lots of times I put numbers down like this that can't be understood by the general public but make complete sense to me. Kind of my own secret code for business purposes.

I guess it could be sept 1, 1937?

...lots of Gulf paper pieces have the same AD-0000 code...on those, there's no logical correlation to a date...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

That sounds by the look of it to be right. Did not even think of it in that manner.
Thanks

Yeah, date codes can be problematic for sellers. If you make it too easy for people to tell the age, they'll complain that what they bought is too old. I never put the date on unless it's mandated by law. Not talking old gas stuff, just products in general.

Standard Oil used date codes on a lot of their signs.

It is a cardboard glazed Standard gasoline red crown man. The holes are all the grommets where it would be attached. Date code on the bottom.
Thanks
