I have looked at a lot of photos of 117s and 1/2 dozen or so in person and never seen this type of nozzle hangar on a 117. I thought the 117 was a dry hose. Was this a hangar for a wet hose conversion?

Need a better photo. I have seen many 17s and 117s that have had aftermarket nozzle hangers. Most of these pumps should have been "dry hose", but models manufactured after Wayne bought out GLM may have been wet hose. Dave

Check out post in frequent asked questions. Visibles numbers up or down.
DB explained it to me like this, as motor horsepower increased so did the need for more fuel. A gallon no longer took you 45 miles over bad roads. So they converted these pumps to wet hose. and put gallon select handle at five or ten and broke the handle off and locked the door. Thats why you see so many with broke handle. Have seen this plate once before and it was his notion that it was a wet hose add on.

Here is a front photo from a different Model 117, but I believe the same add-on hangar. Thank you Loyd for the explanation. I searched for every old thread for 117, but forgot about FAQ as a source of info. I assume holes were drilled in the long door on back side of pump and the nozzle hangar was bolted on.

I have never seen that hanger and it really detracts from the aesthetics of the "Mae West"(IMO). Dave
