What's the differences between the two?

Saw a Bennett 85 awhile back, then noticed the attached pic the other day. Figured it was a Bennett. I haven't seen an Erie 129 before, other than in the pump book. Is it a Bennett, or an Erie?

This one pictured looks like a Tokheim. It has a Tokheim visi gauge. There were at least three company`s that made these Gulf pumps. The visi`s and faces are the only way to tell them apart.

...I should have bought that damn photo when I saw it...

...it's definitely not a National...

...my Erie 129 looks exactly the same as the one in the photo (as does the Erie pictured in the book) but it could be a Tokheim...they were very similar; the side panels and visigauge are the best way to differentiate between them...even the faces are the same on a couple of them...

...as I posted on your Facebook thread, the visigauge is the difference...the hose comes off the bottom of Bennett visigauges at a distinct angle...please examine the one shown in this link:

In addition to the pump companies listed above, Wayne, Southwest and Gilbarco also made pumps for Gulf.

I added that pump to my 3rd book a little while ago, I have it listed as a Bennett 86 (861 & 862 are the twins),

Could have had the girl and the pump. Should have bought the photo, Mark.

Did Tokheim have their logo on the faces? Image quality isn't there for a clear zoom, but it appears blank on the pump in question.

If you got the girl you would have to take the mother, shown on the very left side.

...nope - and there's no name on my Erie faces either, and they're originals...I think they used the same faces...

Interesting. Thanks for the info...

Did both Erie and Tokheim make this style twin with visi's?

Here is my Erie 129 for reference. Came with ERIE face plates. I installed an ad glass to cover the hole, it is missing the GULF removable computer access panel. If your driving down HWY 40 in Heber City UT you might see it on the mountain at night.

...hmmm...those porcelain Erie faces are later replacements, used after the aluminum originals faded...the visigauge is from a Bennett...does that pump have the ID tag? If the pump's been gutted, that's about the only way to know what you actually have...

...once these were updated/pulled from service, the jobbers often sold them to farmers or mom & pop stations - they pulled parts from different pumps to make complete units for this purpose...even side panels, which really makes things confusing...

...I would think so - I think Bennett did (might be pictured in the red Benjamin/Henderson Gas Pump book?)...I know National did, because I own one (well, a good part of one, anyway)...

Your right about swapping parts on these pumps. This is my Bennett/Erie. It has a Bennett Id tag and Erie faces.
