This sign is for sale in the Matthews October 5th auction. Thought people may want to know what it is. That would be cool as hell following this truck at night with your lights hitting off the marbles.
Also, take note of the smaller sign below on the truck on the right. Wonder what that says.
What do you think, pre-war or post WWII? Or during even. FWIW, this picture would be awesome in color! FWIW 2, I wish there were more threads like this. Educational. Historical. FWIW 3 I remember when I first came to Oldgas, I was surprised there wasn't an entire section dedicated to history.

Steve That is an awesome sign, reflective of the handcrafted workmanship of the time. I always enjoy the historical perspectives you share. Thanks for taking the extra time to do so.

And just to add this, imagine what that had to be like when you came up on one of those trucks at night and your headlights lit up that sign!
Thanks Mike

Mike, Cool! I didn't think about your sign when I posted this. Did you know it what it was? Was told a number of years back that's what they were used for. But later I was at an auction that advertised one as a "station ahead" sign where there was no electricity. But as always Steve thanks for posting these photos to educate us all!!!
Thanks Mike
