I saw one at a local scrap yard and tried to talk them into selling it . After trying to explain that it was collectable and worth saving all they wanted to do was cut it up so they did , made me sick glad to see you saving history.

I think it is Sinclair. My buddy has one like that and that is what he told me. Good on you for saving it. There was a Sinclair like that near my folks' house when I was a kid. I think it had been boarded up since the 50s. It was a local navigational landmark. The pumps had been long gone, and the signs gradually disappeared over the years. On a visit about 20 years ago, I saw it was gone and a house had been built on the lot. That was a sad day. Thanks for rescuing this one!

So how would the attendant kept warm? Or would this have been outside of the owners house, and he would go out in winter when a customer pulled up?

Great question Nicole. I have been wondering that myself as I try to write my gas station story. What were common heat sources in teens twenties and thirties.
