The guy drove a hard bargain. This is the trade that finally broke him!
Well, we did trade pumps but I had to give some boot too. I have tried to buy this pump from a friend of mine for 15 years now. This pump lived on his Grandpa's farm and he remembers using it around the age of six. He inherited the farm when his Grandpa passed away. Over the years many, many people have tried to buy the pump and all the collectors in the area know this pump. Over the past few months he has been debating whether it was time to sell because his daughter was heading off to college. After a recent visit to my house he became satisfied that I would be "worthy" of owning his Grandpa's pump. He called me last week to say it was time!! The only stipulation was he thought there needed to be a replacement pump put in because he couldn't imagine that space being totally bare. The only pump I had to offer as a replacement was a short Tokheim 39 and he was satisfied with that. Enter Blair from Petrolights.com, my neighbor. He knew this pump and when he found out I was getting it he said the only thing that would look right as a replacement would be a tall Tokheim 39 which he wanted to donate for the cause!! He didn't want to ride by the old farm and see a short pump!! So, kudos to Blair for his generosity. When we traded the pumps out my friend was happy with his new pump and I was pretty excited about mine.
Here's some more pictures of my new long sought after pump.

KJV Psalms 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
What a great story! I know the feeling about being "WORTHY"! I too have been placed under the microscope a time or two, and made the grade! Great feeling when someone passes the ownership on to you and knows you'll do the right thing with the old treasure! Congratulations!
