has anyone had this gulf sign before or know its value. I thought they all had a white and blue ring around it but a couple people have informed me its right and its from the 30's. Could not find any online to compare. This guy is asking $900 for it but I have nothing to compare it to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Greg

Did you measure it or did they provide measurements? Looks to me like it could be a cut down sign.....

...I've seen them before; they are single-sided and are older than the ones with the rings...they are shown on the 1940's Gulf maps (shown at an extreme angle, with an Art Deco car at the bottom)...

It's the non-dealer version of the 20'-30's Gulf sign. This version has the lined shadow while the later has the dropped full shaded shadow.

Most people always ask for the Gulf Dealer where the 'Dealer' is below the name.

Current show pricing average would be $1000-1300 upper end as the color is quite good on it but it has a few minor issues. If you can get it in the $600-700 range out in the wild that's reasonable keeper investment and any lower and it's a definite value.

Pricing has evolved on these signs so much that if someone says it's only worth $300-400 they are still living in the past. Right now the later versions with more damage are selling for $600-800.

If I walked up to it for $500 around here I'd buy it and flip it pretty quick regardless of single/double sided.

Found this picture showing that era bolted to a 2-sided 4" ring. You can just make out the bolts around the white painted sign frame.

...it's not quite that old, and there was not a 'dealer' version of THIS sign...

Good info. I would love to see pictures of a pole like that restored now. I have never seen one of those except in these old photos. Does anybody have one or know anyone who does?

...yup...under the sign are the faces and can of the opal glass That Good Gulf Gasoline signs these replaced in the mid-late 1930's (without the opal glass letters)...

Wow! Those poles and lights are killer! Again I ask, have any of these type poles survived? In all my years in the gas and oil hobby, I have never seen one. I ask now and then and most people don't even know what Im talking about.

That's got be like the "Roman" of sign poles!
