Just got my copy of the Oct 5th issue of "The Auction Exchange & Collectors News" and there's a lengthy article in there, discussing Oldgas's own Steve Coppens, play by play experience in placing a bid for someone who couldn't be there to buy a Texaco Marine pump plate. You've made it into the papers Steve! Your famous now!!!

Lmbo!! This very nice lady came up to me right after I purchased the sign. I was quite nervous having just spent a fair amount. And when they placed the sign in my hand it very thin. It scared me at first as to whether it was real or not. Some others at the auction checked it out and calmed my fears on that.
She told me where she was from and that she was going to write about the auction. I didn't expect to be singled out.
Is the article available online? Can you post a link.

Overall it was a lot if fun, a little boring waiting for your piece to hit the block, but I look forward to the next time!!

Thanks Robert!!! I'm dying to see how much fluff she put in the article.

I was at an auction about 2 weeks ago. There was a lady there from "The Auction Exchange & Collectors News" writing an article about the auction. She was going around talking to people about the items they purchased and taking pictures. She came up to me after I bought the Texaco Marine White sign and asked me a bunch of questions about my experience. I told her how it was my first auction, and having just spent a bunch on the sign, and still being quite the novice, I was questioning myself as to whether or not the sign was real. And I'm pretty sure I was quite visibly nervous. So as a writer looking for an angle, I must have stuck in her head. So I guess she said some things about me in the article.
Just for the humor of it, I'm looking forward to seeing how much the article lines up with how things really went down.
