Anyone familiar with a "Three D" Oil Company/Gas Stations?

I ran across this photo on ebay and now my interest is piqued; as I can't/don't remember anything about a "Three D" Oil Company... Where were they located and how long where they in business?

Any information will be greatly appreciated... I find learning about early Oil Company's keeps me young... wink

A Texas company. Notice the backwards DDD on the trucks, search "W T Waggoner" to learn more.

I noticed the logo, but I am not finding something that says, He was the owner of "Three D" Oil Company?

I did read that He leased land and sold Oil to The Texas Company (Texaco)...

Is there an article that ties Mr. Waggoner and the Three D Oil Company; together? Perhaps, I am not smart and/or sharp enough to find it? I've now searched over 20 websites including the Waggoner Estate website and have not read anything about the "Three D" Oil Company....

Lot 92 in the Kyle Moore sale, was a globe from this compamy and it brought $13,500.
From my 30 years experience with the Quarter Horse industry in the US, the Waggoner Ranch was there at the beginning and had vast land holdings in Texas. They were into the gas & oil industry and had various holdings outside the US too. They were a very big company back when big was really huge!
I would think that a google search of the Waggoner Land and Cattle company would give more information than you could digest?

Sorry, Bob. I thought something would have been mentioned. The Waggoner family had the Three D Oil Co. with stations in Texas.

Kevin, thank you for the suggestion. I did look at that 'Site in my initial search....

While I did find reference to The Texas Company and Oil production; I have not found anything tying the Waggoner Family to The "Three D" Oil Company.....

http://www.waggonerranch.com/

It is possible I have overlooked/am overlooking such a link; but, I'm not seeing anything linking W.T. Waggoner and the Oil Company...

JR where are you getting your info (not doubting, just asking) as the Estate's Website makes no mention of ever operating the Three D Oil Company, in their History...

I ran across a "Three D" station pic years ago, and searched the company. Found the story interesting then, and remember it now. Sorry, I don't remember what/where I found the info.

"Waggoner's first brand was a D61, but about 1866 he began branding with three D's in reverse, a brand easy to recognize and difficult for rustlers to alter."

"The discovery of oil at Electra in 1911 caused the Waggoners to combine oil production and refining with ranching activities; the refinery cars and tanks bore the image of the Waggoner cattle brand."

With all this talk of Waggoner and Triple Ds, I thought this thread was about Dolly Parton. Guess not smile
Porter Wagoner and Dolly were a team in the late 60s and 70s. Nothing to do with gas apparently.

A great photo, thank you for sharing; JR!

I found an old thread about a Waggoner Refining sign; for those interested?
