Okay, so I decided to use an old cast iron table base for a new project and took the top off (see picture 1) and picked off some peeling paint (4 layers total) as I could see raised lettering underneath.

Found this double sided (apparently) rare Conoco Motor Oil sign. It's about 25-1/2" and better on the side that was on the bottom of the table (picture 2) - good shine to the porcelain. What was the top (picture 3) has more scuff wear in the finish.

I'm guessing the top was originally exposed for some time and later painted after the rust started showing around the 4 bolt holes. Also guessing it was made into a table prior to 1950 as the nuts on the bolts were square headed, not hex.

So, I've been on as many sites as I can find and I can only find reference to 5 other examples of this sign. I've also checked Ebay and the private auction sites and find values all over the board and not consistent with condition or quality of restoration. I've also seen the red letter gasoline versions that are more plentiful go for more money than these rarer ones. So I have no idea here!

I could use some advice to peg the values - both as is and restored, as I'm considering that option too. I think it's pretty cool to find a rare sign re-purposed and now re-purposed back to it's original purpose!

Thanks, Greg

I see where you sold the sign... care to share what the value turned out to be?
