Had I known back then, when roaming between Franklin and oil city, that I would later grow to admire it's oil history and relics, I would have picked the area clean 40 years ago! Lol. As a young man, they had a radio program my grandfather would listen to that was called "the swap shop" in which people would phone into for an hour and go on the air and tell what they were selling and give their price and phone number. Sort of like an early version of craigslist! Anyways, I am sure I heard many a resident phoning in and offering signs....pumps....globes...etc for pennies on today's dollar! I could kick myself in the ***** for not getting it!! Lol

Just wanted to mention a quick tidbit that I am sure a lot of people know, but I bet a lot do not. John Wilkes Booth had relatives in oil city pa and he himself spent time in both Franklin pa and oil city pa as an oil baron wannabe before failing and leaving and eventually changing the course of history in a marked way forever at a theatre in Washington.
