Some of you have seen the various Lubester lids that I have in my collection, and I have always had them painted by a local artist, because I felt they were so drab looking! I had purchased this Perfection Oils lid from Bryce and I just got it back today!
As long as she was doing some work for me, I sent this old globe along, as the back side was faded to nothing, and its A-ok to repaint etched globes. The reverse side had been painted in the past, but it was getting to be in tough shape too, so that gave me even more reason to have it done.
Pretty nice to have her talent available here locally!

Her work and the globe look amazing Kevin. I have a question though. Looking at white rose globes on the globe cd, the yellow boarder around the sign is supposed to be continuously yellow around the entire perimeter as she has made it. But your globe originally looked as if the yellow stopped and went white where the text is along the top and bottom. There was even a black vertical line to define the division. Any idea what that is all about?

The back side was also repainted at some time or another. Given the liberties of artistry, I imagine it to be someones interpretation, or else that was the easiest way to do it! LOL

By following the etching, you pretty much have to stay within the bounderys, but small things like you have pointed out, could easily be changed. Kind of like the colors--my artist used whatever colors she had that looked close to original.
She did good though--those checkerboard pants have to be very difficult to paint!

Gotcha! The colors being what they are. I get that. What amazes me is how straight and sharp everything looks!!
Must look great lit up!!

She did some good work there--and I know she appreciates your patronage.

Do you know what paints she used for the globe? Are they opaque (not see through) or transparent?

Nicole--I would't have a clue, but I will try and remember to ask when I talk to her next.
