I've been thinking about the possiblity of sponsoring a Gas Bash here in Solvang, California sometime in the spring. Was wondering if there is any interest out there?

Solvang is fairly central to LA and the Bay area, as well as the inland valley (Bakersfield, etc.). May be able to arrange something with the Mendehall Museum in Buellton, also have a new Indian Casino, plus our "Danish Disneyland", not to mention some great wineries and our local Firestone beer and pub.

Seems like May or June is a good time weather wise and thats when the car shows heat up around here so we could schedule around a car show to draw more buyers.

Would like to hear your ideas pro and con and if you are interested in selling or attending.

Paul Mote will be having his annual gas bash in April or May in Rippon or there abouts. Used to be in Turlock but I hear he moved it.

It might be good as Roy Reed's is history. Remember Fred's is late May or near June first. L.A. hot rod show right before fathers day. My guess would be next weekend after L.A. show. I would do a one day deal also. There are no west coast shows anywhere in July or August so keep that open. Get some help from other people especially those that have done a show before. As far as Paul Mote that was the March show and has been taken over by Jack Swisegood and moved to Escalon. March 11 and 12 this year I think. M 2 cents and hope this helps. Ted

Could do July August but it gets pretty hot here in the summer, although we had a mild one this year. Appreciate the input, keep it coming.

We're about 99% sure that Fred's spring bash will be in May, 2005. I would think a summer bash (July?) might work.

Narrowing it down to July 15-16 or July 22-23. Set up and sell Friday and Saturday. Would expect lots of local support. Any major conflicts with any other car or gas events those days? (Dick, is there a Pomona Swap Meet in July?)
How much for spaces typically? How large are the spaces?
