I still see that some people have trouble resizing pictures especially when uploading from phone.

There are a lot of apps in the app store. The one I use is "Photo Resizer" by Xllusion. It could not be any easier. It is a 2 step process once you open the app, check my pictures below.

I always use "select photo" from my gallery. When you select the photo the next screen opens, I chose medium size, as soon you do the photo is resized and is the last picture in your gallery.

At this point you just proceed to "File Manager" I hope I made this clear, it's so easy, even I figured it out.
Don't pay any attention to the message at the bottom of the pictures "phone infected?", it's an advertisement.
Tom.

good info Tom... also worth noting, you can use the 'Large' size in the application and still upload to OldGas... 800x600 is just small enough to be okay!

Tom, that app is great. Cut down the resize time on my phone big time. Tried it out with a couple pictures from a book from the 1930s of a Texaco station. Shows a Fire Chief globe on top of a Wayne 60

Wow I can't tell what a hassle this saves. In particular with Windows 10. Which has serious photography deficits. Never thought to look. Thanks Tom. smile

I found "Image Resizr" by Geekme in the iTunes App Store. Installed it on my wife's iPad and it worked great. You can take a pic or pull one from your gallery and resize it in seconds. Just put in a width "640" and it will automatically do the height correctly. Saves it as the last photo in your gallery. Just select that in File Manager and you have your photo on Oldgas.com easily.

You can experiment with width. On horizontal photos, 640 pixel width should work great. On vertical photos, 480 pixel width should be fine.

Edited by Oldgas (Sat Jan 16 2016 08:26 PM)
Edit Reason: add width numbers

Hi Larry,

Tom's directions in the first post of this topic are great.
http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=643449

When you save the resized image with the Photo Resizer app, it goes into your Gallery on your phone or tablet unless you choose elsewhere. No need to email or copy code.

* Login to Oldgas.com using that same device that has the resized image.
* Go to the topic where you want to put the image.
* Click on the File Manager link in the post submission form.
* Click the "Browse" button on the File Manager upload form.
* Select the image in your Gallery (usually the first one if you just resized it)
* Add text in caption box
* Click the "Add File" button
* Click the "Done Adding Files" button.
* Fill out the Subject and Post message box (no image code is needed) Preview button will not show image
* Click "Submit"
* Back on the post upload screen, it should show a number on the File Manager line for how many image files you uploaded.

Try it in the Testing Area forum to get a feel for it.
Once you get this down, it is pretty smooth to use.

I don't get a browse button, instead it says choose file....Add File or done adding files. When I click choose file it gives me, Camera Camcorder, Sound recorder or documents. If I click add file its says we have encountered a problem.

Hi Larry,

You don't say what phone or tablet you are using. Some work differently than others.

Click on "Choose File" That is the same as "Browse"

Don't click on "Add File" button until you have selected a file to add and it shows in the line next to the button.

On my Android phone, I click on "Documents" and if the picture I want isn't right there, I click on the three bar icon on the upper left that signifies Menu. Then on the Menu, I scroll down a little and click on Gallery. There I find my resized image.

On Android,
When you get the menu after "Browse" or "Choose File" you see:
"Camera, Camcorder, Sound recorder or documents"

* Choose "Documents" if you want to find a photo image on your device that you have resized using the app.
* If you don't see what you want on the first documents screen, click on the three bar menu icon.
* Choose either Image or Gallery to navigate to your recently resized image and select it

Jim I am using a iPhone and the resizr ap. What values do in width and height? I have tried to use this a few times from my phone and it always says my file size exceeds 150kb. I have been using 640x480. Thanks for the help.

640 X 480 normally will do it but sometimes you have to go a tad smaller.
