Can't quite make out the lettering on the posters, but the writing is certainly on the wall. That is just a repop factory. Thanks to you pros on this forum, I will never buy a sign on eBay.

Nothing wrong with the making & selling of reproductions. Many of the original signs are out of reach of regular collectors price wise. So to many, a reproduction is the cheapest way to own one of these "RARE" signs. What bothers most collectors is when sellers, pre age the signs and then try to pass them off as an original, but with authentic signs prices! Not only morally wrong, it is illegal as the sign is misrepresented. As long as there is a dollar to be made (or in some cases of fraud, thousands of dollars) this will continue. The best thing to do is to be informed of what to look for in these fraudulent signs and when a seller is continuing to pass them off as originals to make sure potential buyers are aware.

Some responded to Kevin's post in the General Petro section, claiming he made the signs...the business is called The Vintage Retro Sign Store.
In that thread he claims to make them in the US, but that poster sure looks Chinese. Where on the back is he claiming to mark the signs? Don't see them on these pic's...

Just remember the easy way to check clear coated signs is with a razor blade edge or pocket knife edge. One small scrape on porcelain won't do anything but on clear coat it will scrape product that looks white off of the sign.
Thanks Mike
