Hello everyone, this is Kim and Mary who just had the auction down at Mecums in Kissimmee FL. I guess it is about time we joined oldgas - we are of the age to be not so internet savvy and tapped in to all the social media pages. I guess we were too busy chasing junk instead of being on our computer - we don't even have a smart phone yet.
As to our collecting interests, we still love the gasnoil stuff - as a matter of fact I bought an oil can Wed night after we got home from the auction. We did sell everything in that category except for 2 White Eagle globes which we just like having around. We are still very avid collectors of American signs from about 1860 to 1960 - they can be porcelain, tin, paper, wood, reverse glass - they can also be advertising almost any product - I have always said the product can be boring as shoelaces, but it is all about the graphics on the sign. I also do have an advanced collection of porcelain tobacco signs.
Well, this is where oldgas suggested we introduce ourselves so I hope you find it. If the moderators would think it interesting to hear our comments on the auction, if they would tell us where to post that we will make that our second post. I did find the "events" forum and found the great photos Bryce posted and the comments there. See ya around, Kim n Mary

Enjoyed meeting and talking with the two of you at the auction. I really wanted a few more signs I went for but they got out of price range . Still got a couple things that was I totally pleased with . I'll post them in the buys of the week section. You had one heck of a collection, Thanks, Daniel

I don't think there will be objections for posting or answering questions following the thread already there about your auction. Or you could start a new thread there if it is directly related to the Auction. My understanding is the only restrictions that apply to new members is to have a certain amount of posts under your belt and a review by our host Jim Potts before selling anything.

Welcome!

Welcome to the site. I would imagine it was kind of tough to let some of that great stuff go. I hope you did well on the auction.-Also, hope you guys stay active on Oldgas and share some of your knowledge ! - Dont feel too stone age-I met a collector of advertising just this week who has never even had a computer or a cell phone.

Thank you all for the hearty welcome and thank all of you who participated, even if by watching, the auction. I will post some of our thoughts on the original topic page as Jim Potts suggested. KimnMary

Hi Kim
I am a new member as well. Still havn't introduced myself. Still working on how to do that.
I enjoyed talking with you. I bought a bunch of cans and a few signs at that auction. Would have loved to buy more. It was your collection of cans that got me started with cans, anyway. Got that Opoline can with the Race car!! love that can.
Stan
